Why I Love Being an American

I often think of how lucky I am to be an American.  Sure, I get frustrated often about decisions that are made and some of the people in charge, but then I realize how lucky I really am.  I am so thankful for many things.  These are just a sampling of the reasons why I love being an American.

1. The fact that I can worship the way that I want, where I want, and with whomever I want.

2. The fact that I can have a voice in “the great experiment” called Democracy

3. I can travel from state to state freely within our United States.

4. Anyone can succeed in this country if they just put their mind to it and never give up.

5. We belong to the most generous nation that has ever existed on the planet.

6. Americans stand for something.  We may not always agree but at least we fight for our beliefs and stand for something.

7.  Never have I seen a nation shed so much blood to protect others and the freedoms of other nations.  We don’t even ask for thanks.  We just do it because it is the right thing to do.  I am thankful for my two Grandfathers that both fought in WWII.  My thanks goes out to my father who received 3 purple hearts in Vietnam.

8. My faithfulness and gratitude goes out to the men and women who are serving for my country now.  While I eat well and the biggest problem I have is surviving the Phoenix heat, my countrymen are fighting to stay alive. I am humbled by their courage and grateful for their sacrifice.

9. I still believe that America is the greatest country on Earth.  I often imagine what it would be like if I were born in other places on Earth.  The fact is that I got lucky.

10. Finally, I am grateful that I can send my children to get educated and I can grow old with the greatest person that I know, my wife.

Have a Happy 4th of July Everyone.  Thank you for being such a great supporter of United Brokers Group.  Celebrate America this weekend, the Greatest “Experiment” of all!
